Acrobat on windows, pdf preview in file explorer

When you browse folders using File Explorer, if you select for example an Excel file, you will be able to preview the file on the right, without opening it. How to get the same by selecting a pdf?

First of all, Adobe Acrobat Reader must be the default application with which you open pdf files. To try it out, just click on a pdf file and see with which application it is opened. If it is not Adobe Acrobat Reader, you have to change this setting by entering “Default apps”.

To preview a pdf file in File Explorer, you need to open Adobe Acrobat Reader. On the top left, select the “Edit” menu, choose “Preferences”. Choose “General” in the Categories list. Select the “Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer” check box.”. Restart your pc.

Unable to cast from Windows 10 to Chromecast

Scenario

All computers cannot locate the Chromecast, whether connected via wifi or via cable.
In detail :
All smartphones connected to wifi can see the Chromecast and transmit.
All computers connected to wifi or cable can ping the Chromecast but cannot find it in transmission.
Some computers are in domain (win 10 pro) or out of domain (win 10 home).
Disabling the firewall on a single computer does not change the result.
Disabling the firewall from the router does not change the result.

In some computer networks, Chrome on Windows 10 cannot locate the Chromecast to cast.

Solution

On your computer, open Chrome and type

chrome: // flags /

You have to enable 2 special flags. The flags are hundreds so you will have to look for them. As pictured:

media-router-cast-allow-all-ips  (Connect to Cast devices on all IP addresses)

Have the Media Router connect to Cast devices on all IP addresses, not just RFC1918/RFC4193 private addresses. – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS

Enables the native Cast Media Route Provider implementation to be used instead of the implementation in the Media Router component extension. – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS

 

Press the lower right “Relaunch” button to save the new settings. At this point, after Chrome has restarted, you can cast to the Chromecast.

Windows 10 scanning software

When you buy a scanner, you are provided with scanning software from the manufacturer. This program, generally to be installed, is very often feature-rich. This richness translates into a very complex interface, perhaps in some cases not clear to users who do not need to make particular choices but simply “push a button” and start scanning.

In all cases where the manufacturer’s scanning program is “oversized” you can choose to use the scanning software included in your Windows 10.

Windows 10 contains document scanning software. This scanning software initially detects the presence of an installed scanner and allows its use.

You can launch the software by typing “wiaacmgr.exe” in the search bar.

If you want to make it even more convenient to use you can go to the System32 directory, find the software file, go over it with the mouse and push the right button; select “Send to Desktop”. You will create a shortcut for the software on the desktop.

File Explorer hangs

File Explorer, the program you use to view folders and files crashes. The whole computer appears to be frozen.

SOLUTION

Hit Windows+R to open the Run box. Type in cmd to search for Command Prompt. Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator on the menu.

Type this sequence of commands

  1. Type netsh in Command Prompt > press Enter.
  2.  Type winsock in Command Prompt > hit Enter.
  3.  Type reset in Command Prompt > hit Enter.

problemi nella ricerca di windows 10

Da mercoledì 5 Febbraio 2020 ci sono dei problemi nella ricerca di windows, lo spazio sulla barra in basso a sinistra in cui cercate i programmi: quando andate in ricerca la finestra dei risultati vi compare totalmente nera.

La ricerca di Windows cerca, in base a ciò che scrivete, i programmi installati sul vostro computer, i vostri file e tutto quello disponibile in rete attraverso il motore di ricerca Microsoft Bing. E’ proprio in Bing che risiede il problema che causa la schermata nera in ricerca.

Soluzione

Per risolvere dovete portare delle modifiche nel registro di Windows , cioè nel programma in cui sono conservate tutte le informazioni e impostazioni del vostro computer : fate questa operazione con molta calma perché potreste compromettere l’intero sistema in caso di errore.

  • Aprite il registro di windows. Non funzionando la ricerca per farlo dovrete usare una combinazione di tasti sulla tastiera : dovete spingere il pulsante con l’icona di Windows 10 (il pulsante con i quattro quadrati neri alla sinistra della barra spaziatrice) ed il tasto R, insieme.
  • Si apre una finestra con scritto “Esegui”: scrivete regedit e spingete OK.
  • Sulla sinistra vi trovate un menu ad albero con diversi percorsi. Dovrete seguire questo percorso : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ricerca (l’ultima parola “Ricerca”, potrebbe essere scritta in inglese “Search”).
  • In questa cartella “Ricerca” oppure “Search” vi trovate sulla destra una serie di voci. Dovrete cercare la voce “BingSearchEnabled”. Se non la vedete posizionate il mouse in un punto qualsiasi tra le voci, tasto destra e spingete nuova DWORD 32 bit. Chiamatela appunto BingSearchEnabled con valore 0. Se la voce esiste ma non è a 0, mettetela a 0.
  • Dovrete fare la stessa cosa anche per la voce CortanaConsent
